Emergency Prep Tip: Let’s keep adding to your emergency bag. This week I want you to make sure you have charging cables, wall adapters, and a portable lithium-ion battery or power bank so you and your family can charge phones and other electronic devices in any situation.

These items should live in your go bag and shouldn’t serve as backups if you lose a cable or charger. You want to be able to grab your bag and know that it is already backed with the items you want. If you want to take this a little further, consider adding a portable solar charger and a second power bank.

Long ago I thought success was on a billboard or in the credits on the big screen. Don't get me wrong, that is success, but waking up and pouring your first cup of coffee without spilling is also success. Just because you successfully poured yourself a cup of coffee without spilling it doesn't mean you accept your success and never pour yourself another cup, and had you spilled that one cup of coffee doesn't mean you won't try again. This may sound very primary, but if you put this idea in the bigger picture of your own life, it may help you to continue pressing forward.

I have a client who had applied for a home mortgage loan and wasn't able to qualify at first. He paid off some student loans and saved more money for the downpayment to later find a fantastic house. Had he felt he failed and given up, I would have never been able to hand him the keys to his first house. I love this success story!

Emergency Prep Tip: Make sure your car and home are equipped with fire extinguishers everyone in your family can use easily. Bigger and heavier extinguishers can be difficult to use for those with small hands or limited mobility. Small aerosol fire extinguishers are an excellent option in this case, although they shouldn’t replace all your traditional canister extinguishers.

They’re a great addition to emergency supplies in your car. Since they’re easy to tuck away in small spaces, consider keeping one handy whenever you light candles. You can easily stash one behind a tall vase or in a small drawer to keep it close to any potential fire hazards.

This is such a beautiful sentence in her diary and I love it, but I don't want to say too much and take away from the power of it.

We have encountered hard times around the world and I will not minimize the lasting effects they have created for many people. My hope is that in the darkest days and in the hardest moments, we can all find hope and courage to continue.
