** PENNSYLVANIA HEAT WAVE COMING THIS WEEK **
It is about to get quite hot, even hotter than a typical summer afternoon. Some of this heat could also rival the hottest temperatures in as much as 10 - 20 years. While the big story will be the high temperatures, it will also be coming with a package of high humidity levels. These high humidity levels with Florida-like dew point values will push heat index values into the 100s for pretty much everyone across the state on Wednesday. Across southern and southeastern Pennsylvania, heat index values will be just shy of 110 degrees in some spots. Wednesday will not be the hottest day either, as the peak of the heat is likely to come on Thursday or Friday. The 4th of July looks hot as well, but with a chance for stronger thunderstorms. Stay tuned for updates! 🥵⚠️
⚠️➡️Right now is the time to prepare for the high heat and humidity. Make sure you have your air conditioners and pools all ready to go, check on elderly neighbors, and take the normal heat precautions. If your residence lacks air conditioning, it would be a good idea to look into local cooling centers in your area. If your area lacks cooling centers, shopping malls are a great option to check them out during the hottest part of the upcoming days. Little relief will be coming during the overnights, with low temperatures only dropping into the low-mid 70s with high humidity. Power outages may be a concern due to increased electric grid use, so even if you have AC, an emergency back-up plan to find cooling areas is not a bad idea (this is not to panic- but it is always good to have a Plan B at any time of the year for any sort of weather)!
Stay tuned and spread the word- the heat is coming!
