A walk about Burton, with an Eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly greeting us moments after learning of Dolly's passing. The original town of Burton grew in the mid-to-late 1800s through exploration for gold, minerals, and old-growth timber. Named for a pioneer family—and the cousin of our community’s developer—the town was submerged under Lake Burton in 1920. Over the next century, LaPrade’s Marina became the epicenter of lake life.
