Aiden Ramirez loves these lights at the Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Do you?

This comes from an exclusive Remembering Retail photo taken at the mall during my visit there on 2/22/25 to capture Macy's when it was closing in front of the space once occupied by Pomeroy's and The Bon-Ton.

He asked me a question I knew my NEPA friends here could answer much better than I could.

When were these installed? Was that prior to 2006?

We're rooting for all the malls, but especially ones like Wyoming Valley Mall rooted in our community, showing real attempts under current management to fill vacant spaces and showing signs of life even against some perceptions suggesting otherwise.

I certainly hope accurately telling their stories helps drive traffic to them. As much as I like telling the story of a vacant storefront, I'd much rather see a vibrant, open one instead.
