The Holy Moly is a recently-revitalised old Masonic Temple building in the centre of the Historic Downtown Blues precinct of Clarksdale, Mississippi. Listed on the National Register of historic buildings, The Holy Moly was purchased by an Australian couple, Carla Maxwell and Adrian Kosky, in 2012, empty, and unused. They converted the building in to an apartment building, diner, and an event venue
...and then they made it their American home. The revitalisation work on the second floor at The Holy Moly was completed in 2015. The floor plan lends itself to more creative endeavours by Adrian and Carla. It incorporates a theatre space for music, film and story telling, an event room with a commercial kitchen, an office with living facilities for guests, a meeting room, and a green room/video lounge for their guest-musicians at the back of the theatre. The unusual floor plan of The Holy Moly has been retained and recycled to suit and accommodate Adrian & Carla's goal to host groups of people for workshops, leisure education, and cultural activities in their home. Their home theatre is a perfect setting for respectful, listening, audiences appreciating the value of live performance in an intimate setting. Musicians from around the world love the acoustics, comfort, and original masonic lay-out of the raised perimeter platform with higher stages that allow multiple performance positions. The Holy Moly Theatre first opened for Juke Joint Festival 2015, as a night time concert venue and continues to be an official JJF nighttime venue.
