Hummingbirds Are on the Move!
If you’ve noticed fewer hummingbirds around your yard lately, they may be getting ready for their journey south.
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are migrating through Tennessee this time of year as they head toward their wintering grounds in southern Mexico and Central America. Before they leave, these tiny birds build up energy reserves by feeding on nectar and insects.
You can help by keeping hummingbird feeders clean and filled through the winter. There’s no need to take them down just because migration is underway — some hummingbirds may continue to visit into October and possibly over the winter if you’re lucky.
Keep an eye out for these tiny travelers as they make their way south!
