Robert has been passionate about collecting cars since the age of 16. Robert's automotive backround is quite extensive, owning and operating multiple auto salvage yard businesses and having been a licensed independent car dealer and appraiser for over twenty five years. Robert has been a member of various car organizations: SAAC, PCA, SVRA, HSR, SCCA. Robert has been involved with building, restoring and club racing vintage cars both foreign and domestic. Robert currently has Gulfstream Appraisal Service and provides rolling stock appraisals, pre-purchase inspections,and diminished value reports. Boats and motorcycles are also personal interests. He has owned everything from 13' Boston Whalers to a 38' Cigarette Top Gun and Can Am dirt bikes to Fat Boy Harleys.

General Motors poured millions into promoting the all-new 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, positioning it as Chevrolet’s answer to the booming pony car market. Many in Detroit expected the Camaro to take home Motor Trend’s Car of the Year award.

Instead, Mercury’s new Cougar stole the spotlight. Based on the Mustang but stretched and positioned as a more upscale alternative, the Cougar came standard with V8 power, a longer wheelbase, and a quieter, more refined ride, rather than being offered as a stripped-down commuter.

Its hidden-headlight grille and sequential taillights gave it a distinctive look that blended American muscle with a more sophisticated feel. Motor Trend ultimately selected the Cougar as its 1967 Car of the Year, giving Chevrolet’s new Camaro an unexpected setback.
