I'm starting to get a lot of requests for rentals locally from friends who have lost everything and need a place to live while they rebuild.

I know I have a number of friends who are seasonal residents and am wondering if any of you would consider renting your homes to help provide some rental inventory for folks in need.....I would estimate that most folks looking for rentals would be seeking at least 3 months and likely more like 6 months or more. Most would be seeking a furnished rental as well so your seasonal home might provide a great opportunity for you to do a great thing to help someone in need and also a way to make a bit of money.

Gone for 4 nights.......this is my footwear selection for the time......8 Pairs of Cowboy Boots (with the hot pink never worn, bought for a NEON event and likely being returned unworn LOL).....one pair of flip flops just in case (I don't even know why) and one pair of Vibram Five Finger shoes for my daily running......

I feel good about my options.

Just logged on to the main Corporate RE/MAX Website.......Team Kelly Dixon Hit PLATINUM Closing Status again!!!

I don't remember when I hit it in 2023 but in a year where some agents are struggling, I am THRILLED to have hit this level despite what feels like a real pause/hault in the market.

So many thanks to everyone who had any hand getting me there again from my Buyers and Sellers to the folks that referred people to me to the Lenders & Title Agents.....staff at RE/MAX Action First and of course my VERY valuable right hand Jessica Phetterplace......who is still trudging along from home doing what she can with her beautiful newborn baby on her hip.....

As we are now officially in Hurricane Season, this article couldn't be more timely......I have lived in my home since 2001 and we are in Flood Zone X.......That is the zone that many people are in and while it is NOT Flood Zone A/AE, V/VE etc where your lender will generally always require you to have flood insurance.....I have carried a voluntary Flood Insurance Policy on my home since 2005 after Hurricane Katrina came ashore and storm surge pushed inland and affected many homeowners who were caught off guard by the storm surge and that their Home Owners Insurance would not provide coverage.

Now it looks like a lot of folks to the south are going to see their Flood Zone changed and will need to purchase Flood Insurance if they have a federally backed mortgage. But for those who flooded from the heavy rains recently, it is unfortunate they didn't have coverage in place.

I cringe all the time when I hear fellow Real Estate Agents say "This home is not in a Flood Zone". IF the home is in zone X or X500 that IS still a Flood Zone, just not the Zone where lenders require Flood Insurance. Know your zone, KNOW your EVACUATION ZONE as well. Call your insurance agent......ask for a quote NOW for an optional Flood Policy. It might surprise you how affordable it can be in that case. For ME, Flood Zone X, Evac Zone D, my annual Flood Policy is usually $400-$500.....

Also, for those of you still insured by Citizens.....and in Flood Zone X, X500....be sure to educate yourself on the changes coming to you as well.

So reach out to your Insurance Agent to make sure you are adequately protected!!!

Borrowers with federally backed mortgages in parts of South Florida, and soon all Citizens customers, must buy flood insurance.
