H-E-B is once again doing their buy a ham and get a turkey free holiday special. The food banks are hurting with all the current, extra traffic from the government shutdown, especially with the holidays coming up. If you plan on buying a ham or turkey this season, please utilize this special and give the other item to your local food bank to help those in need to get through this holiday season.

Early this morning around 5:00 a.m., our crews responded to a house fire that had quickly spread through the roof while the family was asleep inside. Thanks to quick action and teamwork, everyone made it out safely with no injuries.

While working the scene, firefighters learned that today was the family’s 5-year-old’s birthday. Despite everything, she was excited to see the firetruck at her house on her special day! 🚒

Our firefighters wanted to make sure her birthday still felt positive and special, so they pooled together and bought her some birthday presents!

Seeing her smile reminded us why we do this: not just to protect lives, but to be there for our community in every way we can! ❤️

Onyx is a 5-year-old black cat who was recently surrendered because her previous human “didn’t want the responsibility.” Translation: they were not emotionally strong enough to handle living with a gothic queen who stares directly into your soul while you eat cereal.
