❌ MINNEOLA BIG BOX STORE PLANS OFF THE TABLE ❌
The proposed big box development in Minneola has taken a major turn.
Plans for the Minneola Marketplace site, located near North Hancock Road and Citrus Grove Road, have been evolving over time. Earlier concepts for this area focused on a more traditional town center style development with a mix of restaurants, retail, and community space. That vision later shifted when updated plans introduced two large anchor stores, widely believed to be a Walmart Supercenter and a Sam’s Club, which quickly became a major topic of discussion in the community.
As those updated plans became more widely known, many residents began sharing concerns about what this type of development could mean for the area. Traffic, density, and overall impact on the surrounding community were among the most commonly raised concerns, and the proposal became a point of ongoing conversation both online and at local meetings.
Now, according to a recent statement shared by Minneola council member Erick Hernandez, the current two big box proposal has officially been taken off the table. In the statement, it was shared that the developer will now be going back to reevaluate the site plans and work toward a new direction that better aligns with the vision for Minneola.
At this time, there are no confirmed details on what the next version of the project could look like. The site remains a key development area, and it is expected that a revised proposal will be brought forward in the future.
This announcement marks a significant shift in what had been one of the most talked about proposed developments in Minneola, but it also leaves questions about what will ultimately take its place.
