One of the things we’ve been focusing on lately is a proposal for a new historic restoration project in the City of Cleveland. To prepare our presentation for the decision-making committee, we have been reviewing our past projects and considering how they might inform the future.
I’ll save most of my reflections for the actual presentation, but for now, I thought it would be cool to share a little bit about all of our projects to date in the slides above.
Each project represents various levels of complexity, problem-solving, and creative financial structuring. Just as important, each involves deep listening, critical thinking, perseverance, collaboration, and building a team to help solve problems thoughtfully—where impact and social and environmental responsibility are guiding principles, not just buzzwords.
I am especially proud of our investments in Tremont to date. I can remember when people thought no one would want to live on the other side of Lincoln Park. In Tremont alone, the partnerships we have shepherded have generated over $100 million in historic preservation, urban infill, independent retail, and workforce housing.
Just as importantly, while we always have room for improvement, we have done this work with the neighborhoods we serve, not against them.
The chance to do this kind of work and practice good stewardship is a privilege we don’t take lightly. Hopefully, we can continue putting our best efforts toward making Cleveland a little bit better, one project at a time.
