In The Neighborhood: Dahlia Coffee Co. ☕

If you know me, you know coffee is basically a personality trait at this point, so when it came time to feature a local coffee shop, was an easy choice.

I first discovered Dahlia when they were operating as a pop-up at , and I’ve been cheering them on ever since. It’s been incredible watching their journey from those early pop-up days to becoming one of Cleveland’s favorite coffee destinations.

Founded by owner Natalia, Dahlia Coffee Co. was born from a dream years in the making. After leaving behind a successful corporate career in 2022, she took a leap of faith and built a thriving small-batch roastery and coffee shop rooted in quality, community, and hospitality.

One of the things I love most about Dahlia is that you can feel the difference when a business is built by someone who genuinely loves what they do. From ethically sourced beans to specialty drinks inspired by Natalia’s Mexican heritage, every cup is crafted with care.

And speaking of favorites... I wish I could tell you I’ve only had one Mazapán Latte, but that would be a lie. Somewhere between my first sip and my tenth, it became my regular order. Pair it with a chicken empanada and suddenly coffee, breakfast, and lunch are all handled in one stop.

We’re especially excited that Dahlia will soon be bringing its signature coffee experience to Old Brooklyn near our SCA Tremont properties! Their current location is closest to our residents at The Hawthorne:

I wanted to highlight some positive news I read recently involving our awesome Cleveland community. Urban areas around the country are often plagued with the challenge of being food deserts. There have been several ways of combatting this with my favorite being urban farming and gardening (looking at your .) 

A basic idea of taking vacant land and using it to grow produce. Cleveland has a program to assist with this known as the Summer Sprout program. Believe it or not, this program has been going on for 50 years! While it exists, there are still limitations. City Hall recognizes the barriers of entry to urban farming/gardening and will be making changes to the program including increased funding and some bureaucratic adjustments that once prevented folks from starting their own gardens. 

While at a glance it can seem like a trivial program, but I truly think programs like these can shape a community. It is refreshing to see the City of Cleveland encouraging and supporting programs like this that will bolster our community.

Ramona, also know as Mimi, originally moved into the Tappan building. After supervising the Tappan, Mimi took her talents across the street to the Wagner Awning building. Here’s her throughout the years in each apartment. Thanks for your service Mimi!

Looking for a mid June move? Lincoln 109 is (in my opinion) the best first floor unit we have! All first floor units at The Lincoln have an additional two feet of ceiling height and since the building is on a hill, your wrap around balcony sits comfortable above street level.

Meet your neighbor, Grace ✨

Originally from a tiny town in New Jersey, Grace moved to Cleveland about five and a half years ago for college and never looked back. She’s now been living in Tremont for a little over a year and has fully embraced neighborhood life. By day, she works in cardiac surgery as a scrub nurse (which is undeniably cool), and in her free time you can usually find her exploring Cleveland’s local music scene, grabbing breakfast at .cafe , or enjoying a sunny afternoon in Lincoln Park with a Heather’s Cocktail from .

From the moment I walked into her apartment, the vibes were absolutely on point. Between the candles, crystals, cozy decor, and Casper curled up nearby, it instantly felt like home. We ended up chatting about everything from local music to our mutual love for our fur babies — and yes, I am absolutely stealing her bowl-of-crystals idea for my own apartment. Casper took a minute to warm up to me, but once he did, there were belly rubs for days!

One of my favorite things Grace shared was her advice for anyone new to Cleveland: there is always something happening here — from local shows and art events to coffee dates and karaoke nights — you just have to look for it. Honestly, that perfectly captures the spirit of Tremont and this community. (And it’s exactly why I try to share as many local happenings as possible on our social media stories and the events calendar on the resident page of our website!)

Starting next Tuesday, May 19th, the Tremont Farmer’s Market returns to Lincoln Park! Every Tuesday from 4–7pm you can get access to farm-fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, artisan cheese, hot coffee, ice cream, lemonade, food trucks, handmade crafts, and live music all within a 5 minute walk of our Tremont properties!

I love to walk over after work and get a bouquet of flowers for the week and some fresh tomatoes later in the summer. It also makes for a nice dinner option some nights to walk around the park with the fresh food listening to the music.

Highly recommend everyone visit the at least once this year!
