After a lot of sensitive demo and asbestos abatement, some of the first new installations have gotten started in the Park Ballroom & Temple. HVAC lines and new water lines are finding their spots between the supports and contours of the original ceiling structure.

Elsewhere, the bulk of the ductwork is finishing up on the bridge while continued window removal, drywall buildout, and electrical connections go into the education wing.

Around the exterior new foundations, roofing, utilities, and planter box restoration are all ongoing as we try to wrap them up ahead of winter.

A a bonus, beautiful fall colors are spreading through the many trees around site :)

SCA Communities,

I want to make sure you are aware that early voting has begun. Hours and location are in the pictures posted. Starting soon weekend voting hours commence. The location to vote is in midtown, which is about a 6 minute drive from Tremont and 17 minute drive from Hawthorne.

I posted some pictures so you can see what to expect. Tons of parking. Easy signage. Be sure to make sure you have the right form of ID (the Cuyahoga county board of elections page is a good guide).

The entire experience takes less than 15 minutes. And you get this snazzy new sticker, which is very chic and goes with your fall colors

No excuses — let’s do this.

Here are some photos of the Park planters before, during demo and now in progress of being rebuilt

While indoors we are replacing windows and installing new ceilings and walls, outside of the building the restoration and replacement of masonry planter boxes that make up much of the Park exterior are underway.

It is a big effort for a critical piece of the building’s historic facade that involves studying and deciding what can be saved versus what needs to be replaced. Replacement is the decision when the masonry just can’t be salvaged and there’s no way of keeping it structurally safe.

This balancing act spans the whole process of construction — soil excavation, foundations, footers, waterproofing, concrete block backing, and salvaging and repairing extra brick vs matching new masonry material to the original appearance

As the rebuilding of these planters become more into focus, we definitely will keep you apprised of the progress

Park pictorial update. —

The Oberlin College BA+BFA space is moving from utility work (hvac, plumbing) to construction activities like insulating, drywalling, and replacing windows — all with the goal of making the new studios, classrooms, and offices into their new shape.

We also now have the new roof on across the majority of the building, and the work to restore and replace the historic masonry planters on the building’s exterior is underway.
