Crain’s Cleveland Business recently published an opinion piece written by Joseph & Mary's Home Executive Director Anna Stormer. The Op-Ed is titled “Cleveland must be brave enough to care." You can learn more about the Op-Ed by visiting jmhome.org/crainsopedannastormer.

Anna was inspired to write the Op-Ed after reflecting on the number of Ohioans – more than 160,000 – who have lost Affordable Care Act marketplace coverage over the past year. This is in addition to the 356,000 additional Ohioans who could soon lose Medicaid coverage due to federal changes taking effect.

As Anna says in her Op-Ed, “For our neighbors experiencing homelessness, losing health coverage is not simply a data point. It is often a matter of life and death. Even a brief interruption in care can have devastating consequences for someone already living without stable housing."

Joseph & Mary's Home welcomes Diamond McClough as the new Respite Care Manager! Diamond first joined the JMH family as an intern in 2020. She returns with a Master of Social Work from Case Western Reserve University and a deep understanding of the JMH mission, residents, and community.

Diamond will oversee the full resident lifecycle at JMH including prescreens, referrals, admissions, and alumni programming, providing residents and partners with a dedicated point of contact throughout each step of the process. Joseph & Mary’s Home is very fortunate to share that we recently received a generous grant from the Edwin D. Northrup II Fund! The grant will go toward feeding our residents, who each receive three nutritious meals a day while living here.

Thank you to the Edwin D. Northrup II Fund for recognizing the importance of caring for the whole person. This generous grant helps us provide healthy, filling food so our men and women can feel their best while on the path toward recovery and a return to self-care.

Earlier this summer, we welcomed the Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) to Joseph & Mary's Home for a monitoring visit. We're proud to share that, following their evaluation, we passed! The visit was connected to funding Joseph & Mary's Home receives through ODOD's Supportive Housing Program, with money coming from the Ohio Housing Trust Fund.

We are very grateful to the state of Ohio for their continued partnership with Joseph & Mary's Home, and especially extend our gratitude to ODOD's Russ Neumann and Tayler Jessup for their support throughout the process. Sustaining this work is a collective responsibility, and Ohio's support allows Joseph & Mary's Home to continue providing care to our most vulnerable neighbors.

To help Gerald begin this new chapter, the bed pictured here was purchased thanks to donors who believe in new beginnings and have supported Joseph & Mary's Home's Journey Home Fund.
