Central Iowa has had A LOT of rain lately, so here’s a quick homeowner checklist - plus a FREE local flood cleanup resource below if you or someone you know is already dealing with water. ☔️

A few things worth checking today:
✔ Make sure your sump pump is working properly
✔ Check that your sump discharge line is clear & draining well away from the foundation
✔ Check basement floor drains to make sure they’re clear
✔ Make sure downspouts are extended away from the house
✔ Clear leaves & debris from gutters so they can drain properly
✔ Check egress window wells & make sure drains aren’t blocked
✔ Walk around the foundation & look for low spots or areas where water is pooling
✔ If you have a battery backup sump pump, make sure it’s charged & functioning

Water in a basement can happen quickly, especially after the amount of rain we’ve had. A little prevention now can save a much bigger headache later.
