It's free fishing weekend! Lots of local parks will be having fun opportunities to fish!

Are you interested in learning to fish? This weekend at Gray’s Lake there will be Free Fishing! Bait and tackle will be provided and an experienced instructor will be on hand. Go catch a big one!

CLARIFICATION: Triumph Park and the playground will not be open to the public until after the ribbon cutting on Friday, June 3 (ceremonies begin at 5:00 p.m., with the ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m.) - we apologize for any confusion.

The historic Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines has been purchased and will remain a concert venue, the new owner, Sam Summers told the Des Moines Business Record. "The Val Air Ballroom has had a rich history and historical significance to the area," Summers wrote in an email. "We are thrilled to be able to extend its legacy while making improvements for modern touring all while being good neighbors."
