Flint Materials: Flint Team visits NYC!

Off to New York City…

Flint Virtual Showroom programmers Caleb Talmage and Sarah Hollifield, along with Flint designer Steven Arnold and U.S. operations personnel Dr. Myungjae Kwak and Shaswat Jhunjhunwala, recently took a Flint-sponsored weekend trip to NYC for some inspiration, team-building and site-seeing.

With accommodations on 7th Avenue, between Times Square and Central Park, we were thrown right in the thick of it. We had a blast walking the streets around Times Square and Broadway that first night, through the lighted marquees and digital billboards, taking in the urban bustle. While most of us were pretty impressed with all the action, our Indian friend Shas kept wondering where all the people were… he was expecting a “big” city. ( :

We saw the famous Carnegie Hall, the renowned Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and the historic Central Park (street performers and all)… but the highlight was attending the New York City Drone Film Festival. We got to hear professional aerial cinematographers discuss their trade and got to see some pretty cool screenings filmed with drones. The drone footage was pretty awesome, showing amazing and dramatic “fly-thoughs”, capturing environments in ways impossible or unfeasible for helicopters or ground rigs. Absolutely breathtaking beautiful footage.

Flint Materials: Shaking it up at NAA Expo in Chicago

Flint Materials was SHAKING IT UP at the NAA conference in Chicago on Feb 15-17 for Student Housing professionals.

Dave Bunting and Lolly Love were shaking hands at the trade show, giving away a Bluetooth speaker track light. They had a decked out booth displaying many of Flint’s latest innovative products.

Kate Good shook it up for Flint with attendees as she discussed importance of providing convenience products in Student Housing, like the USB outlet Flint offers in her “How to create a powerful brand” seminar.

Lolly and Dave shook the night away with other industry professionals at the Dueling Piano Bar on Tuesday night and to a live band at Blue Chicago on Wednesday night. Thank you Allison Weber of Peak Campus, Jason Shepherd of Dwell Design studio and Kate Good of Huntington Residential for an overall great time of SHAKING IT UP and SUCCESS for all involved!!!

Flint Materials: NMHC Strategy Outlook Conference

The NMHC Apartment Strategies Outlook Conference that took place on Jan19-21, 2016 at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek/Waldorf Astoria, was a total success for all involved. Long standing Real Estate Industry leaders like Larry Curtis (President of Winn Development) and Ken Valach, CEO of Trammell Crow Residential detailed the trends, statistics and insight into what lies ahead for the economy and our industry.

Members from my company, Flint Materials, attended the conference to introduce me as ‘VP of Sales for the Western Region’ and talk about our new Bluetooth Speaker Light (Click for Presentation), upcoming Smart and Eco-ceiling fans, and to meet with some great friends and associates.

This is the biggest gathering for NMHC members for 2016. Everyone comes to network with colleagues at the many sponsored events, parties, and info. sessions. This year was no exception. We had fun with a scotch tasting, cigar bar, and large disco ball at the opening party! (see Pic of me at the disco ball!) – Lolly

Flint Materials: The hardest working CEO in the business!

Not everyone I know can say that they love their job. Not everyone I know says they love working for the person they work for. We are very lucky to say both. It’s not easy to drag 120 lbs. of samples to a meeting-but that’s exactly what our CEO, Joseph Lee Daniell did in this photo. Up a hill. Over 2 speed bumps. In the snow! (that part is actually not true).
So, even though we closed this particular meeting-what matters most is that we worked hard, we had fun, and everyone knew we loved our job. We believe that kind of energy is contagious. It’s also more important that our great pricing or our amazing catalog of products. We believe it’s our secret sauce!

Flint Materials: Flint Introduces Smart Chip

Well its been a long time in the developing and programming stages, but our first Flint Smart Tech chip has just launched! Feels good to get this horse out of the gates and running. Hopefully full-blast soon!

This chipset will revolutionize what our focal point is in business. From importers and procurement agents, to product designers, now to innovators.

We will start putting this chip into our Cloud Lights, Speaker Lights, LED lights, Smart Fans, and USB receptacle ports so that Apartment Tenants can control everything through their smart phone.

Our downloadable, free APP will allow users to control, dim, vary these switches – effectively making the apartment SMART – as well as use Macros to program morning alarms (make coffee), situation settings (romantic!), and lights out (sleepy head).

Our first demonstration will be for DirecSupply on December 2nd, 2015.

Flint Materials: Smart Tech in Charleston

We met a bunch of great people in Charleston earlier this week – in the Belmont Hotel on 205 Meeting Street, Charleston – at the Multifamily Exchange. Our mission was to show the new products we are developing to launch next month to large – scale developers. We have some new Smart Tech fixtures (including a ceiling fan, USB charging port, and LED kitchen light) that can be controlled by your smart phone (which controls our own chip/motherboard in each fixture).

Show was a great success, we logged a bunch of new friends into our database and want to especially thank: Garrett Construction, Senior Living Logic, Peak Capital Partners, Landmark Apartment Trust, JPL Development, Covington Realty Partners, Cityscape Residential, Bell Partners, Thompson Thrift and others for the high interest in our Smart Tech & Luxury Products.

Flint Smart Tech – we are building some of the world’s most affordable smart home technology to be used in the multifamily, hospitality, and condominium communities. Our Smart Tech is economical because we have developed our own chip/board that we also manufacture. Our plans are to offer 5 fixtures of Smart Tech items – lights, plugs, fans, etc… for less than $300 complete with a downloadable application with our customers logo.

We love this town for another reason – our forefather Robert Daniell was a Captain, Mayor, Colonel, and Governor of both North and South Carolina provinces. Only problem is? They named an island – that he once owned – after him and mis-spelled the place! Daniel Island.
