AMENDMENT 3: How much could Brevard County homeowners actually save?

New Florida TaxWatch estimates show qualifying homesteaded homeowners in Brevard could save $352 to $1,131 in 2027 — and $710 to $2,279 in 2028 — depending on where they live. Space Coast Daily

The numbers vary considerably across the Space Coast:

Cocoa Beach: $944 in 2027
Cape Canaveral: $658
Merritt Island: $882
Melbourne: $1,044
Satellite Beach: $1,131

But there’s another side to the issue: those homeowner savings would also mean less property tax revenue for local governments and special districts.
