If you or someone you know was affected by the recent Spokane wildfires, there are immediate ways to freeze your mortgage payments and protect your finances. Do not just stop making payments—you must contact your lender first!

Here is what you need to do right now: Freeze Your Mortgage. Call your mortgage company immediately and ask for the Disaster Relief Department. Request a "disaster forbearance" to temporarily pause or reduce your payments for up to 12 months. When you call, make sure to ask them to put the missed payments at the very end of your loan so you don't face a massive bill when the pause ends.

Insurance Grace Periods
The Washington State Insurance Commissioner has issued an emergency order giving wildfire victims an automatic 45-day grace period to pay home and auto insurance premiums. Companies cannot cancel your policies for nonpayment.
Local Loans & Tax Relief0% APR Loans: Local credit unions like Numerica and Canopy are offering emergency wildfire relief loans up to $5,000.
