BEWARE OF FAKE RENTALS on facebook marketplace and craigslist.

Our new listing was targeted. A scammer used the photos from our listing in Spokane to post a rental.

Signs that it is a scam:
1) landlord tries too hard to prove he is the owner. NO REAL LANDLORD would send their passport to show a tenant they are the owner of a property. That would be ridiculous.

2) rent is too low for the neighborhood. THEY DO THAT so they get a lot of people to contact them immediately.

3) they want you to wire them or send a cashier's check and they will send you keys. Nobody rents a property without seeing it first. The landlord needs to get you in to see it. THE FAKE can't get you in because they don't have keys.

It is sad, I have already heard from 2 people that fell for it. All I can do is tell them to file a police report.

DO NOT EVER WIRE MONEY TO A LANDLORD YOU HAVE NOT MET IN PERSON AT A PROPERTY - RED FLAG!!!
