💙🤍❤️ Juneteenth: Freedom Day ❤️🤍💙
Juneteenth, a day memorializing the end of slavery in the United States. Observed on June 19, the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston TX learned of their freedom. Celebrating freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.
The Official Juneteenth Flag was created in 1997 by activist Ben Haith, the official Juneteenth flag uses the exact colors of the U.S. flag. This intentional choice signified that enslaved Black Americans and their descendants were always Americans, and that their freedom is a foundational part of our nation.
❤️ Red: Represents the blood shed by enslaved people who fought and died for liberation.
🤍White: Represents purity, liberty, and a new beginning for all.
💙Blue: Represents the American flag and stands for hope and a broader freedom
Today we honor our history and celebrate unity, respect, and equality for all.
