Welcome to day 2 of this week’s theme. We are sharing bull moose who have not shown up for the rut of 2026. Yesterday was AGB, which is a bit of a shocker for us. Today’s guy is Scoop, one of the dominant bulls from our secondary filming location. Scoop is quite the beast. Although it’s possible he would back down from another bull where he ruts, we never saw it, he was very dominant, he most likely fought with bulls like Gnarly last fall and previously. We’re also pretty sure Fondue fought him last year, and that fight resulted in Fondue breaking an antler palm.
We’ve looked all year for Scoop, no sign of him. Although it is quite likely we would have found him somewhere this fall, there’s always the chance he “retired” from the rut and just moved on. We are well aware to we should keep an open mind and always remind ourselves and you that Nature always has surprises, and unexpected things happen all the time.

We love the way this week turned out. It’s always interesting and rewarding to solve a moose puzzle. Today’s wrap up photo shows both bulls we found this week…TJ and PB. Keep in mind, TJ’s name is a done deal, but PB (Pretty Boy) is still in discussion.
TJ is on the left, and PB on the right. They engaged in a rather intense sparring session that we will share when we get the video production done. In all honesty, part of our reality these days is being sure to get enough rest to be ready to hike each day, we’re not youngsters anymore. We try to make the most of each day this time of year. We love our new life here, and we are making the most of it each day.
We are excited for what is ahead, and we’ll be sharing cool rut action ahead. As always, another new 2026 moose rut video premieres tomorrow on YT.
