Dave Carlson, Principal Broker at Lake Homes Realty Providing professional real estate services to buyers and sellers with honesty, integrity and hard w

Dave Carlson has a long history along the shores of Lake Champlain in the Charlotte/Ferrisburgh area. Dave's great (x4) grandfather, John Thorpe, was said to have been the first to build a wooden cottage on Thompson's Point in 1874, but it wasn't until 1895 that the Thompson's Point Association was formed. Dave fondly remembers spending summers of his youth with his grandparents at the lakefront c

ottage that they built on Long Point in North Ferrisburgh. Since 1998, Dave and his wife, Nancy, have called the beautiful shores of Mallett's Bay in Colchester their home, where they enjoy the various activities and wildlife of each vibrant, Northeastern season. Dave decided to pursue real estate training and attained his real estate salespersons license in 1988. He has successfully helped numerous families with all of their real estate needs ever since! Dave Carlson is an agent with Lake Homes Realty, which is a multi-state real estate brokerage and a member of a large number of Multiple Listing Services (MLS). He is a lake expert specializing in the Lake Champlain area. Whether you’re buying or selling your lake home or property, you can turn to Dave for reliable service and expertise on lake real estate.

On this day in Vermont history: Philomene Daniels of Vergennes earns her pilot's license in 1887, making her the first woman in the world to become a steamboat captain. She and her family ferried passengers and cargo between Vermont and New York.

Beautiful shot from a beautiful area on Lake Champlain. My grandparent built a camp less than 2 miles north of this estate and I was fortunate enough to be able to spend all of my summers as a kid enjoying lake life there. Now I help folks find their dream home on the lake. – Grosse Point is available for $22,9000 if you dream big!

Some of the brightest, most extraordinarily vibrant red maple trees I've ever seen line a narrow dirt lane across a vast lawn leading to a private estate on Lake Champlain in Ferrisburgh, Vermont. Those maples already seemed to create their own light, but when the setting sun found a gap in the clouds Saturday evening over New York's Adirondack Mountains and sent golden beams of light bouncing off the smooth water, the trees appeared to have caught fire. The moment was breathtaking, and I feel fortunate to have been there to photograph the scene.

I've been photographing full-moon lineups with Vermont's iconic Camels Hump summit for years, but last night's Super Harvest Moon was far and away my favorite. The timing, light, clarity, fall foliage and extreme distance from the target made for single best frame I've ever accomplished of this conjunction. Joined by two photographer friends, I stood 23.5 miles west of Vermont's third-tallest peak, across Lake Champlain in Essex, New York. Being so far from Camels Hump makes the moon look particularly large in comparison to the mountain. The lunar disc crested the summit ridge just as the sun was setting over the Adirondacks behind me, creating absolutely ideal lighting and allowing the bright moon to shine through the twilight-tinted haze that hung in the air at the end of an unseasonably warm autumn day. We clicked our shutters feverishly to keep up with the moon's rapid ascent while cheering like giddy fans at a sporting event in awe of the fantastical scene.
