Last Weekend we headed back to the Kerr County with a special delivery! I wasn’t sure what my assignment would be. But I met Erika at the volunteer tent & she gave me an address. I showed up to Bumble Bee Hills neighborhood in Hunt, it is across the highway from the river! This home was in the back of the neighborhood & had 6 ft of water inside. My job was to caulk the back of the house to get it ready for paint!Erika called me & said she was on her way to bring me lunch (they deliver lunch to everyone) I explained to her I had $650 left over donations from back home and I asked who does she know, She interrupted me & said Oh I know just the couple, let me bring you to her & we can have lunch with her! (Erika brings her lunch everyday) I was not expecting to meet someone at all, I actually got nervous & was unsure how she would react, would she be embarrassed? So meet Mrs. Rina Bailey, her house is directly behind the HUNT store (it’s been all on the news) it is a 1930’s stone adorable home that 10 steps lead up to the front porch. She had no idea who I was and why I was there but gave me a big hug anyways. Her and her husband are in their 70’s, he is the local electrician, his shop was next to their house. She wanted to walk me through what is left of the house, she showed me the back window they crawled out of as the water was rushing in the house. They ran up the hill to higher ground in the dark and luckily survived. But the house, their cars, Mr. Bailey’s shop & work trucks were all gone at daylight. They have been living in a camp house that doesn’t have water & didn’t have a/c. Erika explained to me that she is so depressed & doesn’t like to get out of bed most days, Rina’s best friend lost her entire family, her kids & grandkids that were all in town for the 4th.After a tour of the house I told Mrs. Rina that I had prayed this morning for god to show me who needed this gift and he chose you! I slipped the cash in her hand & she started to weep, I looked over to Erika, she is crying & now I am crying. She told me she was having such a hard morning & this was the god wink she didn’t know she needed today. Thank you to everyone that donated to make this hap
