🚨 BRAND-NEW HOUSE. BRAND-NEW BASEMENT. BRAND-NEW INDOOR SWIMMING POOL. 😳💦
Holy sump pump, Robin. 🦇😂
My client just bought a new construction home in Montgomery County, PA… and after all this heavy rain, his entire basement flooded.
The culprit? The sump pump wasn’t installed or routed correctly. 🤦♀️
And I’m not talking about a little water in the corner. He is literally outside manually pumping water away from the house trying to keep up with the water POURING into his basement. 😳💦
And now? It’s turning into a BIG repair.
According to my client, they’ve told him the current drainage setup isn’t adequate. They’re looking at regrading, rerouting the drain, figuring out WHY water is continuously pouring into the sump, drying everything out, replacing carpet and repairing the baseboards.
All from a BRAND-NEW house. 😬
Thankfully, the builder is on the hook for this one.
But let this be your reminder: NEW does not mean PERFECT. Basement water, drainage issues, sump pump problems and construction defects can happen in new construction homes too.
👇 Bought a home in Montgomery, Bucks or Chester County in the last 5 years? Waived inspections? Found basement water later? Or maybe even had inspections and STILL had water issues? Bought new construction and discovered a WTF surprise?
Tell me in the comments—I KNOW there are some stories out there. 👀
