The most often asked question I get as a Real Estate professional is:
Should I buy/sell now or wait for the market to change?
Answer: Yes and No!
Yes. Of course the best time to buy/sell is always now. No. Waiting for the market to change can cost you a missed opportunity. There really is no such thing as a buyer or seller market. It’s simply a supply and demand issue. Right now interest rates are rising, but so are prices for everything else. Yet is doesn’t stop people from going to the movies, taking in a ballgame, visiting Disney World, planning a wedding, going out to eat, etc. Being a homeowner is still the best and wisest decision for the majority of adults. Think of it like this:
If you bought a home earlier this year you probably got a rate near 3%. If you bought last year probably under 3%. If you didn’t buy during that timeframe because you thought home values were inflated there is nothing you can do about it now.
But, here’s a great way to ease the pain of the higher interest rate. If you buy you may pay 7%. If you are renting you are paying 100%. Build equity regardless of the interest rates. If you buy and rates go up you WIN. If you buy and rates go down, refinance (if rate drop is at least 1/2-1% less) and again you WIN. Always talk with a solid Realtor and a trusted lender about your options. If you have questions let me know.
