Looking for a hike that challenges you and rewards you with unforgettable views? Barr Trail is one of Colorado Springs’ most iconic trails, offering a true mountain adventure toward Pikes Peak. ⛰️

Whether you’re tackling a portion of the trail or taking on the ultimate challenge, come prepared, know your limits, and enjoy every step along the way.

🌲 Distance: ~13 miles one way to Pikes Peak Summit
💪 Difficulty: Very hard

✈️ Another incredible Mayor’s Fellowship session in the books! 🏙️

Last week’s session kicked off with a meeting with the VisitCOS team, followed by time with the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC, featuring guest speaker Johnna Reeder Kleymeyer, President & CEO — and her insights on where our city is headed were seriously valuable and inspiring.

From there, our cohort toured the Colorado Springs Airport, including the newly renovated terminal ( looks great 🤩) and Peak Innovation Park — getting a firsthand look at the development taking shape in and around the airport corridor. The kind of forward-thinking growth that’s setting our city up for decades to come.

What stood out most: the intentionality behind it all. Colorado Springs isn’t just growing — it’s growing with purpose, focused on being a place residents are proud to call home while staying vibrant and welcoming for visitors and tourists who, more often than not, end up wanting to stay for good. 😉
This Fellowship continues to open my eyes to just how many moving pieces come together to make our city great — and how many people are working behind the scenes to make it happen.

Thankful to be part of a cohort that gets to see this work up close, and even more grateful to live in a city with this much momentum and heart behind its future.

If you haven’t found your way to get plugged in — whether it’s a city board, a local nonprofit, or just showing up to a community event — there’s room for you too. Our city is better when more of us are engaged in shaping it.
