The trail to South Suburban Reservoir through Stratton Open Space is such a good example of what I love about living here.

You start in the foothills on the southwest side of Colorado Springs, follow the trail through open space and mountain scenery, and eventually end up at the small reservoir tucked into the landscape.

It is not about rushing to the end. It is one of those walks where the trail itself is part of the day; especially with kids. You can stop, explore, look for wildlife, take in the views, and then spend some time by the water once you get there.

That is the kind of lifestyle I think people underestimate about Colorado Springs. You can live in the bustling city and still have trails, water, canyons, and mountain views woven into an ordinary weekend.
