Lately, some companies have been pushing the idea that keeping listings private, exclusive, or "in-house" somehow benefits sellers. The question every seller should ask is simple:
How does showing my home to fewer buyers help me get the best price and terms?
It doesn't.
The goal should be to create competition, not limit it. More exposure means more eyeballs, more showings, more offers, and more opportunities for sellers to come out ahead.
Your listing is one of your largest financial assets. It shouldn't be used to grow a brokerage's market share or keep both sides of a transaction under one roof. It should be marketed to the widest audience possible.
Hire a Realtor who works for your interests—not their company's agenda.
