El Paso County Parks unveiled Santa Fe Open Space on Thursday, April 7 at a Ribbon Cutting with El Paso County Commissioners Stan VanderWerf and Holly Williams.

Santa Fe Open Space is the newest addition to the El Paso County Parks System which includes 60 acres of pristine upland ranchland with 1.75 miles of natural-surfaced single-track trails for hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders to enjoy. These trails are easy to navigate with trail signage at all intersections and maps at each trailhead.

There is amazing hiking all around. Every time I’m out on the mountain, I feel so free and disconnected from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It’s just me and nature, and I’m just one foot in front of the other. Just keep pushing forward. Every time I’m on a trail or a mountain, it just feels metaphorically similar to the journey I’m on. When I reach the top, it feels like elation and victory and freedom. And I love that feeling."
