People enjoy the over 300 days of sunshine we get here! Colorado Springs sits at an elevation of 6,035 ft. We are the proud home of Pikes Peak, (14,115 ft. high), Garden of the Gods, the U.S. Olympic Committee, and thousands of acres of National Parks. Colorado Springs is a very unique city. One can be in downtown Colorado Springs, then head west and be in a primitive wilderness area in about 45 minutes! Colorado Springs (El Paso County), has a population of 464,474 (as of 2017). Colorado Springs is a growing community. The population has INCREASED over 170% since 1990. Many people come here for a vacation and end up moving here. The average home value in Colorado Springs is about $373,793 (6/2019 value). We have homes starting about 250k up to several million dollars. That’s what I call variety! We are frequently asked how much snow we get here. On an average, Colorado Springs gets about 61” of snow a year, which usually comes in about a dozen storms. The humidity is very low here, averaging about 50%. Because we are over a mile high (nearby Denver is nicknamed the Mile High City), snowfall does not stay long. It is not uncommon to have temperatures in the 40’s just a day or two after a snowstorm! ARE YOU MILITARY? Colorado Springs is home to thousands of military and their families. We are extremely fortunate to have the Air Force Academy, Fort Carson Army Base, Peterson Air Base, Space Command, and Schriever Air Base all in Colorado Springs! We also have a huge presence of military defense contract companies or aerospace defense companies, such as Northrup-Grumman, Rockwell International, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, and companies like ITT Exelis, ANC Research, Man Tech Space, and Textron Defense. In all there are about 192 aerospace defense contract companies. Many of our military get stationed here, fall in love with Colorado, and end up retiring here and working for a defense associated company. We are extremely proud of our military.
