Lily is officially obsessed — bubble tea in one hand, custard dumpling in the other, and the biggest smile on her face. 🧋🥟💕

One of my favorite parts of relocating is discovering the places that make a town feel like home — and this one is going on our favorites list for sure.

It's Ocrevus day. In my cozy chair that will be my home for the next 5 hours reading this beautiful and tragic book, and WWII historical fiction that has far too many parallels to the world today. But I digress.

Today has me thinking about the cost to my family to simply keep me functioning at a basic human level and all the things we have lost, and I have lost (like most of my teeth!) because Healthcare is a privilege and not a right.

Simply to have coverage and be able to schedule appointments it costs our family 1200 a month in monthly insurance premiums (and that's after my hubby's company pays 100% for his coverage) then my in office co pays for my specialists is 70 per visit, 8 specialists x on average 3 visits a year. Appointments like this are even more ranging upwards of 140 a visit, just to walk in the door. My medications copays are over 2000 a month, thank goodness I hit my personal out of pocket limit so early in the year, it certainly has never meant that I have gone without medications when I couldn't afford those bills....oh...wait.....

I have 4x MRI a year. At an out of pocket of about 5k per scan.
Lumbar punctures
Xrays
So so so much lab work.

I owe the hospital chain here in the high 10s of thousands of dollars.

And I haven't even done the surgeries that have been recommended by my physicias. Have been denied 50% of the prescribed medications. Taken off things that worked because I am of child bearing age and a woman (forget that I would likely not survive a pregnancy)

All of this so I can function enough to be there for my family and work 3 jobs to help cover the growing costs to our family because I've lost my last appeal for disability even though I have the following confirmed diagnoses:

Ehlers Danlos Syndrome
Multiple Sclerosis
Severe Psoriatic Arthritis & Psoriasis
Bi Polar Disorder
Chronic Migraines
Anxiety

And i know there are more but you get it. I hope that we get our s**t together so that our kids don't have to fight for the right to just feel mostly healthy and be able to walk and enjoy life with their friends and family.
