The El Paso County Assessor's Office recently launched a free property monitoring program. While it doesn’t prevent fraud, it can provide early notification so you can act quickly if something unusual occurs. The service tracks things like: Documents recorded against your property (such as liens or deeds), or when your property appears on a multiple listing service (MLS)
It’s a simple step, but one that may help you stay ahead of potential issues.
You can sign up at: www.EPCRecords.com
From there:
Select the Property Protection icon
Click “Register for Recording Notification Service”
Verify your email and complete registration
Add variations of your name as it may appear on title records
If your property is held in a trust, be sure to include the trust name as well.
This type of service isn’t yet available in all counties, so it’s encouraging to see El Paso County taking a proactive approach.
