Before the colder weather rolls in, make sure your home isn't hiding any scary surprises. Missing shingles, storm damage, small leaks and other issues can turn into much bigger problems once winter hits.

Fall is officially here, and while we love a good haunted house, we definitely don't want you living in one!

When you're touring homes this fall, look out for:
💀Possessed Furnaces: Strange clanking or groaning can mean severe mechanical wear.

🔍Mystery Stains: Water marks on the ceiling often point to active leaks or poor roof ventilation.

💧"Historic" DIY: Questionable plumbing fixes can lead to major water damage down the road.

🏚️Foundation Gaps: Large exterior cracks aren't just spooky—they're structural issues.

🔥 October is Fire Safety Month! 🔥

As home inspectors, we spend a lot of time looking for things that shouldn't be happening in your house.

Here are a few things we'd really prefer NOT to find:

🔥 A dryer vent with enough lint to knit a sweater

🔥 A power strip plugged into another power strip plugged into another power strip

🔥 A space heater buried behind the furniture

🔥 A candle burning unattended

And PLEASE check those smoke alarms! If your smoke alarm hasn't made a noise since 2017, it's time to introduce yourselves.

A little prevention goes a long way toward keeping your home from becoming the hottest listing in the neighborhood. 🏠🔥
