A lot of people think Realtors get paid no matter what, which is simply not the case.

Real estate agents work on commission, which means if you don't buy or sell, we don't get paid. No salary. No hourly rate. No retainer.

For buyers specifically: the commission is typically paid by the seller at closing, not by you. So when you work with a buyer's agent, you're getting professional representation without paying out of pocket for it.

Why does this matter? Because a lot of people skip getting an agent, especially at new builds, thinking they'll save money. But the builder's agent represents the builder. Having your own agent costs you nothing and means someone's actually in your corner.

Just something worth knowing before you start the process.

Full disclosure: I spend a lot of my non-Realtor hours at the rink.

I know what you're thinking. What does hockey have to do with buying a house?

Honestly? More than you'd think.

Showing up consistently and preparing your team for the best possible outcome is what matters most. You can't rush the process. And sometimes you just have to trust the people on your team and let the play develop.

Also I just really like hockey. That's mostly it.

(No, I will not check you at the closing table. Probably.)

Nobody really tells you what closing day looks like β€” so let me fix that.

Here's the honest version:

πŸ“‹ You'll sign a lot of paperwork. Like, a lot. Budget 60-90 minutes.

πŸ’° You'll bring a cashier's check or wire transfer for your closing costs and down payment β€” not a personal check.

🏠 You'll do a final walkthrough of the home before you sit down to sign.

πŸ”‘ At the end of it, someone hands you keys. That part never gets old.

Closing day feels intimidating if you've never done it, but it's actually pretty straightforward once you know what to expect. Your agent and your title company will walk you through every page.

Questions about the process? Drop them below β€” genuinely happy to answer.

There's a program a lot of people in Colorado Springs don't know they qualify for.

It's called Homes for Heroes β€” and if you're a veteran, active military, first responder, nurse, doctor, or teacher, there's a real rebate waiting for you when you buy or sell a home.

Here's the quick version of who qualifies:
βœ… Military (active, veteran, reserves)
βœ… Law enforcement
βœ… Firefighters and EMS
βœ… Healthcare workers (nurses, doctors, allied health)
βœ… Teachers

The rebate comes back to you at closing β€” it's not a gimmick, it's not a coupon. It's actual money back in your pocket.

I'm a Homes for Heroes affiliate, which means I'm set up to make this happen for you. If you think you might qualify, drop a comment or send me a message β€” happy to walk you through it, no strings attached.

Happy 4th from Colorado Springs.

This city does the holiday right β€” and if you know, you know.

Wherever you're spending it today, hope it's a good one. Especially to the military families and veterans in this community β€” grateful doesn't even cover it.

Enjoy it. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Hey, I'm Andre. I'm a Realtor here in Colorado Springs β€” and I promise I'm not like the ones you're thinking of.

No pressure tactics. No flashy production. No 'top producer' energy.

Just a guy who genuinely loves this city and loves helping people figure out one of the biggest decisions of their lives β€” without making it weird or stressful.

I work a lot with first-time buyers, military families, first responders, and healthcare workers. I'm also a Homes for Heroes affiliate, which means there are real rebates available for a lot of the people I work with β€” more on that soon.

Oh, and I play hockey. That'll come up too.

Stick around β€” I think you'll like it here.
