Does Your Septic System Have A Pump?

If you have a septic system with a pump, when was the last time you inspected the alarm system? While periodically testing the audio alarm using the switch on the alarm box is a good idea, this is not a comprehensive inspection of the alarm system.

I recently inspected a septic system with a pump which had an alarm system. The audio alarm could be tested using the switch on the alarm control panel. However, when I inspected the system I determined there was no float for the alarm system in the pump tank. This meant the alarm would not be triggered if the pump failed. As a result, there would be no way to know if the pump failed until the pump tank became full and waste water backed up into the home.
