I have a lot of first time homebuyers reach out to me and they’re ready to purchase a home but don’t know where to start. Knowing and understanding your credit profile is a great place to start.

When I speak with individuals I encourage them to contact a mortgage lender first for a pre-approval. Having a pre approval sets the stage for transparency and realistic expectations throughout the home buying process.

My FOREVER mood as a Realtor because what I’m NOT going to do is waste my time. But as a buyer it also makes the process a lot smoother when expectations are set in the beginning. Speaking with a mortgage lender helps to set realistic expectations by:

✨Letting you know if you’re ready to buy now or if you need to work on some things
✨ Let’s you know how much house you can afford based upon your UNIQUE financial situation
✨Let’s you know what programs you may qualify for
✨Gives you an idea of what your out of pocket costs will be so if you need time to save some money, you have that time

So I’m not being rude when I speak with you and tell you to start with speaking to a mortgage lender. I just want you to be as informed as possible and feel comfortable when making decisions during your home buying process😉
