Case Study Series Part 1: Restoring Productivity in the South Carolina Lowcountry 🌲
After the acquisition of 14,000 acres of former paper company land in the South Carolina Lowcountry, the new ownership needed a clear strategy to restore productivity and maximize long-term value. The property had been heavily dominated by mature, unthinned loblolly pine, while many bottomland hardwood wetlands had previously been drained and converted for fiber production.
Milliken Advisors conducted a full timber inventory during acquisition analysis, identified harvest opportunities, and developed a comprehensive land management plan complete with objectives, mapping, and budgets.
Today, Milliken oversees the harvest of more than 500,000 tons while leading a large-scale reforestation effort focused on improved genetics, stronger growth rates, and long-term sustainability. Annual inventories and active management continue to position the property for even greater future returns.
