In the case of 17-year-old Hailey Buzbee, who went missing from Fishers, Indiana on January 6, 2026, a suspect has been arrested in connection with her disappearance. On January 30, 2026, a video was released on Stay Inspired asking the public to help spread information about Hailey. And on January 31, 2026, investigators confirmed that a 39-year-old suspect was taken into custody.
In a press conference, the Fishers Police Department said the suspect lured Hailey through an online video game. Authorities said she was at a short-term rental with the suspect in Columbus, Ohio, but she has not been found. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting local authorities as they continue working the case. Police have asked the public to continue sharing Hailey’s information while the investigation moves forward.
Hailey's father, Beau Buzbee, launched a petition for the creation of Hailey's Law, a new alert system he hopes will protect other children. The idea is a "Pink Alert" that would trigger quickly when a child is missing and in potential danger, even in cases where other alerts like Amber may not apply. Supporters say it would give families and communities faster warnings and the tools to act immediately. So far, the petition has gained over 37,000 signatures, and people all across the country have joined Hailey's family in the hope that future children will be found safely and brought home to their loved ones.
