Someone recovering from surgery and watching more TV than usual remarked that "film and TV directors really need education on proper CPR and AED use!" That point, made somewhat in jest, is the mission of the Compress & Shock Foundation.
Unlike in Hollywood, there is only "one take" in a true out of hospital cardiac arrest, and all of us play the starring role whether we auditioned or not! Every community member - - regardless of race, language spoken, health care literacy, or socioeconomic status MUST be ready to act competently and deliver high-quality CPR and utilize a defibrillator when thrust into this role. There are no "retakes" in an out of hospital cardiac arrest. The Compress & Shock Foundation exists to ensure that all communities are prepared for this event.
To that end, please participate in their biggest fundraising event of the year. Place a bid through their online auction. New items added daily through October 9. But make sure to not bid on services for the local Roanoke/Salem area. They can ship but bidder pays shipping.
