One things for sure..Iâm always studying the hotel.đ¤
The lighting. The textures. The furniture. The art. The tiny details that make a space feel thoughtful, layered and like it belongs exactly where it is.
This weekend weâre staying at The Balladeer in Mount Airy, NC, a brand new boutique hotel that opened this spring inside a beautifully restored historic mill, and there is inspiration everywhere.
I think thatâs one of the reasons I love hotels so much. The really good ones understand that design isnât simply about making a room beautiful.
Itâs about how a space makes you feel.
And I think our homes should do the same.
Travel always sends me home with ideas a color combination I hadnât considered, an interesting mix of materials, a lighting choice, or simply a reminder to make the everyday spaces in our homes feel a little more special.
Because ultimately, I think the goal is pretty simple.
Design a home you donât want to leaveâŚunless you want to.đ¤
Currently on vacation and, apparently, still thinking about houses. đ
