I feel like we have some explaining to do…
Leaving California, the only home we’ve ever known, was the hardest decision we have ever made.
We both left family, friends and jobs we loved. Vinnie taught at Hoover for 22 years. I sold Real Estate in California for 17 years. We were completely woven into the fabric of San Diego and neither one of us thought we would ever leave.
It wasn’t until the last quarter of 2020, when we decided to sell our house in Mt Helix, that God opened our eyes to the possibility of a move. We explored Northern California and possibly closer states to CA. We prayed constantly about the move. We explored houses on Zillow (many sleepless nights on Zillow). We applied for jobs. We went on job interviews. And God kept pointing us to Nashville.
After we sold our house in December, things started falling into place. We found a really cool historical home in Columbia, TN. We happened to get it for the price we wanted…major shocker in this market. And we purchased it as our vacation home while we figured things out.
Though we haven’t had much time to reflect or share the news with anyone, we find ourselves in awe of God and how He pulled us through this year.
We now both have jobs doing what we love.
Vinnie is teaching Middle School Science (yup Science NOT P.E. for now) at our kids’ school. I get to work with a Real Estate brokerage that I get to help design and build. (You guys know that is my jam) And there are still so many new exciting adventures on the way. Things we know God is calling us to do. Things we know that we will love to do!
We found an incredible church that we call home now, and are more involved and connected than we ever dreamed we would be.
And lastly, most importantly, we are living a more balanced and connected life with God, our kids and each other. The bottom line is that we see how God has completely blessed us with this move and we have seen His hands work in every way for us.
So while we desperately miss our family and friends, we trust that we are exactly where God has us, for a reason.
