🚨 REALTOR SCAM ALERT 🚨

Please be aware of a scam currently targeting real estate professionals. Multiple agents have received text messages claiming a known contact/acquaintance had “changed their number.”

The scammer used very personal information, including photos pulled from social media profiles, to make the messages seem legitimate and gain trust before eventually steering the conversation.

In one case, the scammer was simultaneously messaging two different agents while pretending to be each other. Thankfully, suspicion led to verification through another platform before any damage was done.

⚠️ Important reminders:
• Do NOT assume a text is legitimate just because the sender knows personal details or uses photos from social media
• Verify any “new number” claims by calling the person directly or contacting them through a known account
• Be cautious of unexpected requests, urgency, or unusual conversations

Please share this to help protect fellow REALTORS® and colleagues. The digital swamp monsters are getting craftier every season. Stay alert and verify before responding! 🔐
