🚨 INDIANA HOMEOWNERS AFFECTED BY FLOODING .. PLEASE READ & SHARE 🚨

If your home has been damaged by the recent flooding or severe storms, especially if you don’t have flood insurance, please don’t automatically assume you’re out of options! 🏠❤️

There are a few things you can do now that may help you access assistance if/when it becomes available:

📍 START BY REPORTING YOUR DAMAGE

Even if you’re unsure what assistance you’ll qualify for, reporting your damage is extremely important. These reports help Indiana determine how widespread and severe the damage is and what additional resources may be needed.

📞 Call 211 or 866-211-9966
🌐 You can also submit your damage through Indiana 211 online.

If your county isn’t currently accepting reports through 211, reach out to your County Emergency Management Agency (EMA).

📸 TAKE PICTURES & VIDEOS BEFORE YOU START THROWING THINGS AWAY

As difficult as it may be to see your home damaged, try to document everything first.

Take photos/videos of:
• Water levels and water lines
• Walls, drywall and flooring
• Furniture and appliances
• Clothing and personal belongings
• Structural or exterior damage
• Anything else affected by the flooding

Also, save your receipts for cleanup supplies, repairs, temporary housing or other expenses related to the storm.

Once you’ve documented everything, safely begin removing wet materials and drying things out to help prevent further damage and mold.

🇺🇸 KEEP AN EYE ON FEMA ASSISTANCE

FEMA assistance isn’t automatically available after every flood. If a federal disaster declaration includes Individual Assistance for your county, eligible homeowners and renters may be able to receive help with certain expenses such as necessary home repairs, temporary housing and essential personal property.

📞 FEMA: 1-800-621-3362

If you have homeowners or flood insurance, file a claim and keep all of the paperwork and correspondence from your insurance company. FEMA may require information showing what your insurance did or did not cover.

💰 DON’T OVERLOOK SBA DISASTER ASSISTANCE

Something many people don’t realize is that SBA disaster assistance isn’t only for business owners.

When authorized for a disaster area, the SBA may offer eligible homeowners and renters low-interest disaster loans to help with qualifying losses to their home or personal property.

These are loans, not grants, so they do have to be repaid.

🧹 CHECK FOR LOCAL HELP TOO

Local emergency management agencies, community organizations, churches, distribution sites and the American Red Cross may have cleanup supplies, flood kits or other resources available to affected families.

❤️ If you’re uninsured or underinsured, please don’t give up before checking what help may be available.

Report the damage. Take pictures. Save your receipts. Check which assistance programs are available for your specific county, and apply for anything you may qualify for .

Praying for everyone trying to figure out where to even begin after walking into a flooded home. ⛈️🏚️🙏

Stay safe, Hoosiers. ❤️
