This happened to a friend of mine a while back. I guess they are trying again. So sad

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

The Colorado County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports from citizens who have been contacted by individuals claiming to be a deputy or officer with our agency. These callers falsely state that the person has an active warrant and must make an immediate payment over the phone to avoid arrest.

This is a scam.

The Colorado County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call you and demand payment over the phone for a warrant, missed jury duty, fines, or any other legal matter.

If you receive a call like this: Hang up immediately. Do not provide personal or financial information. Do not send money through gift cards, wire transfers, Cash App, Zelle, Venmo, cryptocurrency, or any other payment method.

☎️ Contact the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office directly at 979-732-2388 ext. 1 to verify any claims.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post and reminding friends and family to stay vigilant. Together, we can help prevent others from becoming victims of fraud.
