August 11, 2026 - City Council Meeting

We held our regular second Tuesday morning Council meeting. You can go online to review the minutes or watch the full session.

River Valley Regional Commission (RVRC) Update

During the Mayor's Agenda, we heard how the RVRC supports regional planning and government services, workforce development, and aging support across the region. They also highlighted Georgia's Aging & Disability Resource Connection, which offers services for seniors and anyone with disabilities. Their contact information is below.

Operational Assessment of the City Manager's Departments

Mauldin & Jenkins presented City Council with an executive summary of their operational assessment of the 13 departments under the City Manager. As the new City Manager, I find their 384-page operational performance assessment incredibly valuable as we build long-term plans for improvement. This was the deliverable for Phase 1 of the assessment. Mauldin & Jenkins will now begin Phase 2, working with Public Safety.

Rollout of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at Public Facilities

Columbus Consolidated Government recently installed 12 AEDs in public areas. In a sudden cardiac emergency, these devices can help provide faster care, which greatly improves survival rates. Anyone can call 911 as with any other emergency, and 911 staff are already trained to help callers access and use the AED. You can watch the full commercial for more information.

to discuss and gather input on the replacement options of the crossing.
On Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, Columbus Consolidated Government will hold a Public Information Open House concerning the closure.

A few months back, I requested donations of formal wear for The Accountability Court Gala. It was a great success thanks to you generous citizens. Well I got a call and was asked if they only needed formal wear? No they need career wear to go on interviews and to their new jobs too. Thanks to a few women we have another donation being delivered tomorrow to Tabitha Moss.
