After this corona period is over (one day ... say in about eight months), I would like to have a drink around a firepit with the first twelve people who like this status. A glass of rosé, vodka. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Gahanna OHIO in 1957 during a time when everyone treated each other like Family. We didn't eat fast food.... We drank Kool-aid, ate bologna sandwiches, PB&J sandwiches, bought our groceries twice a month on paydays.
We went outside to play games like football, red rover, baseball, water fights, kick ball, hide and seek, jump rope, kick the can and jacks. We even played freeze tag and cowboys and Indians and Four Square etc
There was no bottled water. No microwave or cable. We watched cartoons on Saturday morning and Walt Disney on Sunday nights. We would ride our bikes for hours all without a cell phone or electronic games because computers were non existent. We got the ‘NEWS from Walter Cronkite and not his opinion.
We weren't afraid of ANYTHING except our parents. You LEARNED from your parents and grandparents instead of disrespecting them and treating them as if they knew nothing. What they said might as well have been the gospel. If someone had a fight, that's what it was...a fist fight and you were back to being friends.
Kids didn't have guns unless it was for hunting and never thought of taking a life. School was MANDATORY. We watched what we said around our elders because we knew If we DISRESPECTED any grown up we would get our behinds busted, it wasn't called abuse, it was discipline! Please and Thank you were part of our daily dialogue! And we were taught to respect our elders & offer a seat to them & pregnant women.

With the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation you will never be 100% because your immune system is weakened. Certainly, in the most difficult moments of life, you realize who your real friends are or who really cares and appreciates you. Unfortunately, like most friendships, Facebook friends will leave you in the middle of a story. They will publish a "like" for the story. They may not even read your message if they see that it's too long. More than half have already stopped reading. Some may have gone to the next post in your news summary. I have decided to publish this message to support the families of my friends and relatives who have fought this terrible disease to the end. Now, I focus on those who take the time to read this message to the end. A small test, if you want, just to see who reads and who shares it without reading. If you have read everything, choose "like" so I can thank you for sharing this on your profile. Cancer is a very invasive and destructive enemy to our bodies. Even afterwards, at the end of treatment, attempting to repair and restore the damage caused by the treatment to fight the disease, the body remains broken . It is a very long process. Please, in honor of a relative or a friend who has cancer, or is in remission and continues to fight cancer, or has died of cancer, copy and paste this message as a post on your page. At the end of life....Neurologists say Dementia should be called "failure of the brain," because the other names are nebulous and do not show the severity of the disease to most people. As the patient's brain slowly dies, they change physically, lose the ability to speak, and the caregivers are often in shock, and exhausted!! Patients will end up bedridden, unable to move, and unable to eat or drink. But it is the different phases beforehand that are just as painful. The day they suddenly forget how to dress themselves, and become confused or combative when you try to fix the clothing they've put on backwards. When they repeatedly ask where their life-long mate is or where their children are while looking straight at them. When they are confused, angry, or frightened, it is because they are still partially aware of who they were, yet are that person no longer...
There will be people who will scroll by this message because dementia has not touched them. They do not know what it is to fight or to have a loved who leads a battle against dementia
For all the men and women I know, I ask you a small favor. If you know someone who has lived a battle against dementia, still struggling, or has lost the battle, please add this to your status for one hour as respect and remembrance... copy and paste it in support of the victims, families, and friends affected by Dementia and Alzheimer's as there is no cure. 💜💜

All are Marines who gave their lives this week for you. There's no media for them... not even a mention of their names.
