Today, we honor Juneteenth. It is a day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States and serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing pursuit of freedom, equity, and opportunity for all.

Juneteenth is a moment to reflect on our history, recognize the resilience and contributions of Black communities, and reaffirm our commitment to building workplaces and communities where everyone can thrive.

As we celebrate this important day, we encourage learning, meaningful conversations, and actions that help create a more inclusive future.

Happy Juneteenth!

🏡 June is National Homeownership Month! 🏡

At COCIC/ COCLT, we celebrate the power of homeownership and the difference it makes in the lives of families and communities. A home is more than four walls and a roof-- homeownership provides stability, a sense of belonging, and the opportunity for families to thrive.

Through the Community Land Trust model, we are working to preserve affordable homeownership opportunities so more families can experience the benefits of owning a home for generations to come.

This month, we celebrate the homeowners, partners, and communities helping make that vision a reality. Together, we are building stronger neighborhoods and creating pathways to opportunity.

Today, on WorldCLTDay 2026, we celebrate the origins and impact of the Community Land Trust movement — rooted in economic inclusion, land justice, and community empowerment.

The modern CLT movement began in 1969 with New Communities, Inc. in Lee County, Georgia, creating pathways to land ownership and economic opportunity for Black families. That legacy continues today through permanently affordable homeownership opportunities that help families build generational wealth.

At COCIC, through our subsidiary the Central Ohio Community Land Trust (COCLT), we are proud to carry that mission forward. This year, we are poised to celebrate the development of our 200th permanently affordable home.

One project we are especially proud of is Kohr Place in Linden, a transformational 14-unit permanently affordable homeownership development that is part of the City of Columbus’ broader revitalization efforts in Linden, a historically underserved neighborhood.

Kohr Place reflects years of strategic planning, land assemblage, and collaboration to turn formerly blighted and foreclosed properties into long-term community assets. More than housing, it represents neighborhood stability, expanded access to homeownership, and opportunities for residents to build equity while remaining in the communities they call home.

We are also proud that the project intentionally engaged minority-owned builders, contractors, designers, and development partners — ensuring investment creates impact throughout the community.

Thank you to the City of Columbus - Land Bank Program, Franklin County Board of Commissioners, Simco Construction, Moody Nolan, and Woda Cooper Companies, Inc. for helping bring this vision to life.

Happy World CLT Day! 🌏
