My initial reaction to Shams breaking the news: I knew Ballmer did it.

The Aspiration deal was already suspicious, but the Daktronics reporting made it even harder to believe this was all some innocent coincidence. Kawhi received millions through deals that required little to no actual work, while Steve Ballmer and people connected to the Clippers kept appearing around the money. Come on now.

Adam Silver had to punish them. Salary-cap circumvention is one of the biggest violations an NBA team can commit. If the richest owner in sports could use outside companies to secretly pay a superstar and get away with it, the league would have handed every other owner a blueprint for cheating the cap. At that point, what would any of these rules even mean?

Shoutout to Pablo Torre for breaking this story and continuing to follow the money when people tried to dismiss it. A year later, the Clippers have officially been found guilty, and the punishment is real.

As a Mavericks fan, all I have left to say is: WE UP. 😂 They really tried to tell us the Clippers were going to be better than Dallas next season. Come on now.
