Here is this week's market update!

National Association of REALTORS® Chief Economist Lawrence Yun said earlier today on Linkedin:

"Mortgage rates are around 50 basis points lower today compared to last week. The average 30-year rate could be at 6.5% after hovering at 7% throughout last week..."

He goes on to describe clearly how Silicon Valley Bank got into their financial trouble:
"...Silicon Valley Bank’s problem, aside from the tech industry downturn, was the mismatch in duration. It bought plenty of Treasury bonds few years ago when interest rates were low. There are no defaults but the bank had to pay 4% short term rate now to depositors while collecting only 2% to 3% long term committed rate from Treasury it had purchased. Not a good business model."

Happy Monday!

We are excited to share this week's market update! The numbers are up! New listings are up from 60 last week to 100 this week! Pending homes went from 66 to 94 and Sold homes went from 46 to 65!

This is a great start to a wonderful week in real estate!

Ida B. Russell (John's Mom) Celebrated Her 90th Birthday on Friday, Feb. 24th! We were able to be there thanks to our amazing colleagues taking care of our lovely, supportive clients in our absence!

Friends and family made her magical birthday extra special this year! John's sister Judy and her two daughters created a festive, elegant atmosphere for us all! An Open House from 2 - 6 allowed for a steady stream of well wishers to come by to spend time laughing and talking together, while enjoying refreshments! It was a lovely afternoon that Ida will cherish for years to come!
We are all so blessed to have Ida (mom) in our lives! It was a honor to be with her on this incredibly momentous day!

Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist for the National Association of REALTORS® said this on Feb. 14th:
"The stubbornly high and rising rents are keeping consumer prices elevated. The Federal Reserve therefore cannot yet relax on its monetary tightening policy. Mortgage rates could linger at around 6.5% for a few more months before heading below 6% by summer and maybe even 5.5% by the end of the year."
