HUNTING SEASON IS HERE — WEAR YOUR ORANGE!

September 1 marks the beginning of hunting season in New Hampshire, and as different seasons open throughout the fall and winter, we want to remind everyone to make yourself AND your dog easy to see.

Whether you're hiking a trail, walking through the woods, exploring conservation land, or simply spending time outside with your dog near a wooded area, wearing blaze orange can make a big difference. Put an orange vest, jacket, bandana, or other highly visible gear on your dog—and don't forget to wear orange yourself!

Hunting seasons run at various times from September through March, with some of the busiest deer hunting dates occurring from September through early December. You don't have to be a hunter to know when hunting season is happening. Being aware and being visible helps keep everyone safer.

Keep your dog close and under control.
Wear highly visible orange clothing.
Put blaze orange or another highly visible color on your dog.
Use extra caution when walking in or near wooded areas.
Remember that wildlife—and hunters—may be especially active around dawn and dusk.
