For those who have not taken the time to explore or visit downtown Albemarle, I wanted to share some shots I took recently with the drone. The town boomed first with the addition of the Yadkin Railroad, then followed by textile mills.

Today, as the county seat of Stanly County, Albemarle is seeing a resurgence led by a strong downtown development organization, focused on historical preservation while allowing modern uses to flourish.

Bittersweet day today as Barbi Jones presided over her last board meeting as president of the Cabarrus Chamber Of Commerce. After 10+ years, Barbi is stepping away to be a grandmother for a minute or two, but something tells me she will still be an outsized advocate for a stronger Cabarrus.

Barbi led an initiative that saw the Cabarrus Chamber become one of the most dynamic and respected chambers in the state.

Barbi’s decision to take a chance and add me to the board only elevated Mortice and myself in the community. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity, and cognizant of the need to always work to champion both the citizens and businesses of Cabarrus.

Downtown Salisbury is home to one of the more unique infill parks/community spaces in the region. The Bell Tower Green park features the unique, historic bell tower as its anchor, with an amphitheater for live music, play and picnic areas, and normally a massive water wall/splash pad (closed for drought).
